Are Poinsettia Plants Poisonous?
Poinsettia plants are not poisonous. However, ingesting the plant causes stomach nausea and vomiting. The myth that the plant is poisonous started around 1919 when it was reported that a child died after eating a leaf from it. It has an unpleasant taste and it is highly unlikely that somebody who tries to chew the leaves will continue to do so after tasting it. Poinsettias are very popular during the Christmas season.
