Barringtonia is a genus of the flowering mangrove trees in the family Lecythidaceae. These plants can be found in tropical swamps in some regions across Asia and parts of African continent. These plants are sometimes cultivated ornamentally in some regions of the world. All parts of Barringtonia species are poisonous and historically, they have been used by people to prepare compounds for fishing.
