Dark Lines in Fingernails?

Answer

If you have dark lines running down your fingernails, it may be nothing. On rare occasions, it could be something more serious, such as cancer. Seventy-seven percent of blacks have dark stripes running down their nails. There is a form of cancer called subungual melanoma that’s a form of skin cancer that affects the nail bed. The one thing about subungual melanoma is that it usually only affects one nail. The dark strip can change over time and become darker or wider.
