Definition of Sinus Opacification?

Answer

Sinus opacification occurs when the area behind the cheeks and near the nose appear to be either white or gray. This will only show up during a CT scan. There is a large variety of causes for this, some are life threatening and some are not. One thing that can cause this is polyps. This results in a lack of sinus drainage. Another cause can be inflammation which is usually the result of a sinus infection. In severe cases, this can be a sign of a tumor.
