A chant is a phrase or word that is repeated over and over most of the time. A chant can be monotonous song in a church or wedding service. Chants are used by many people for many occasions. For example, the United States Armed Forces used chants in their drills. Another example is cheerleaders or pep squads. They will chant the name of the team louder and louder when it is time for their team to score.
