Moses was from the tribe of Levi who were priests. He was the Son of Amram and Jochebed, and had two siblings Aaron and Miriam. He was husband to Zipporah and father of Gershom. Coincidentally Moses lived 40 years in Egypt and 40 years in the desert with God and the Israelites. He led the Israelites out of Egypt after 400 years as slaves. Joshua was the chosen successor to Moses after his death.
