When you actually have acute diverticulitis, it means inflammation so you need a very bland and low fiber diet so it can heal. However if the diverticulitis is healed, then what remains is a diverticulum which is an outpouch in the intestine. So after the healing you need high fiber foods like bran cereal, fresh fruits and vegetables, beans. Also you can add fiber to your food, like Benafiber or metamucil. Its best to stay away from small seeds and nuts as these can become trapped in the outpouches and become infected, thus coming to be diverticulitis. You want to avoid constipation at all costs and drink 8-10 glasses of water daily. Good luc
