Hitler was able to become the Chancellor of Germany primarily because of the Great Depression of 1933.After Wall Street crashed, thousands of businesses were ruined and millions of people lost their jobs. The Nazi promised to create a strong government and a better way of life. The existing Chancellor in 1932 called Franz Von Papen made a deal with the Nazis so he could strengthen his won position. The agreement was when the Nazis won; he would become deputy to Hitler. Nazi Propaganda also contributed greatly to Hitler becoming the Chancellor of Germany.

Adolf Hitler became a leader when he was appointed Chancellor of Germany in 1933 by President Hindenburg. He was an outspoken politician who knew how to capture the imagination and attention of a cross-section of voters by playing on their nationalistic beliefs. During the German general elections in 1932, through the Nazi Party, Hitler won 37% and 34% of the vote, hence making his party the largest in the Reichstag.
Hitler joined the precursor of the Nazi Party (DAP) in 1919 and became leader of NSDAP in 1921. He was appointed chancellor in 1933.
