It is believed that the origin of the name 'Hungary' does not come from the Hun nomadic invaders, but rather originated from the 7th century, when Magyar tribes were in present day Hungary. the name Hungary is an English translation of the word Magyar, Hungary's name in Hungarian is 'Magyar' Magyar refers to the predominant ethnic group in Hungary and also in Siberia. Currently, the only foreigners who acknowledge the name Magyar are the Turks, who call the country Macaristan, the 'c' pronounced as in church and therefore Macharistan.
