It is said that Richard Beckinsale died of a massive heart attack. This was confirmed during a post-mortem, which also revealed that he had a congenital heart defect which may have been brought about by high cholesterol.

Richard Beckinsale was an English actor who was best known for his roles as Lennie Godber in the BBC sitcom Porridge and in the BBBC sitcom Rising Damp where he acted as Alan Moore. He died of a heart attack in his house and the post-mortem showed that he had a congenital heart defect. He was born in Carlton, Nottinghamshire, England in the United Kingdom on the 6th of July 1947 and he died on the 19th of March 1979.
