How Do You Build a Wooden Bridge?

Answer

To build a wooden bridge, take measurements to determine dimensions of the planned bridge and also to guide you on how much wood to buy. Acquire two beams with the right length, four piers to support the beams and planks to cover the entire length; lay the support beams on the piers and nail them using heavy concrete/wood nails and then lay down planks across the beams. You can nail the planks onto the beams or use a rope to tie them together. For further information visit your local DIY store.

First decide the size your bridge needs to be. Length-Height-Width. Use the dimensions to get the wood of the exact size required. Lay two 6-foot wooden beams side-by-side, three feet apart and on their 2-inch side. Fit the 3-foot-long wooden beams between the 6-footers, beginning flush at one end and in intervals of 2 feet apart. Nail the four support beams in place with two nails into each end, through the 4-inch side of the longer beams. Lay the wooden panel measuring 6 feet long on top of the bridge. Start at one end and work your way down, nailing it flush against the ladder-like structure you've built, including the support beams. Lay your bridge across the gap you'd like to traverse, and make sure the edges of the bridge won't slip into the gap.
