Making a Boat for School Project?

Answer

To make your own science-project boat, cut an empty milk carton lengthwise in half. Lay one of the halves such that the inside of the carton faces up then punch in the corners of the carton, four holes, an inch from the top of each of the corners. Designate your three straws, and make one to be a main pole, and the other two, sail poles. The three straws will become the mast. Tape one of the sail straws to the main straw horizontally, about an inch from the top of the main straw, so that the two straws form the letter T. Then tape the second sail straw about 2 inches to 3 inches horizontally from the bottom of the main straw. Wrap between the two sail straws. Next, tape the new mast inside the empty milk carton. Then tie the other string end to the top of the mast piece. Repeat this with the remaining three holes, making sure the mast stands independently. Paint the boat, if you like, and finally place it on a pond.
