An ore is a rock that contains minerals and metals. Names of common metal ores include copper ores, iron ores, gold, and silver. Copper ores include one or more of the copper compounds: copper, malachite, chalcopyrite, turquoise, peacock ore, azurite, or dioptase. Iron ores include one or more of the iron compounds: pyrite, marcasite, hematite, goethite, and magnetite. Other metal ores and their compounds include chromium (chromite), lead (curussite or galena), mercury (cinnabar), barium (barite), zinc (zincite or spalerite), tin, lithium (kunzite), strontium (celestine), niobium (columbite), manganese(manganite, rhodonite, and rhodochrosite), arsenic (orpiment and realgar), antimony (stibnite), uranium (autunite), titanium (spene), vanadinium (vanadinite), and molybdenum (molybdenite).
