Properties of polyester satin make the material durable. It is quite durable and because of its smooth shiny surface and it is regarded as an exotic fabric in the fashion industry. Not so much as silk, which is infinitely softer than polyester satin, but from a distance, they are similar in appearance. Polyester satin is used in high end bedding as well. Satin is the particular weave generally with a dull side and a shiny side. It can also be woven with nylon or silk. When woven with cotton, the term is 'sateen'.
