What are examples of soapless detergents?

Usually, detergent is used as a synonym for soap. Therefore, any product listed as a 'detergent' will contain surfactants, more commonly known as soap. However, you can find soapless soaps or detergents, which rely on slightly acidic active ingredients for cleaning. These ingredients often come from plants which contain saponins, such as papaya leaves, soapwort, red campion, or wild gourd fruit. In other cases, they may contain citrus, such as small amounts of lemon juice.
