What Causes a Person to Gasp for Air?

A person might gasp for air for many different reasons. Anxiety and panic attacks can cause respiratory difficulties. Respiratory distress can also occur in people who are having lung or heart issues.

A person will gasp for air if the amount of air required by his body is not meant by the amount that is supplied by normal breathing. This happens during heavy aerobic activity like running.
