Spring tails eat decaying, damp vegetation. They are small insects that lack wings in the Order Collembola. They live in places that have high humidity or in organic debris and moulds. They help nutrients to return to the soil for later use by plants after feeding.

The predators of springtails are very many and some of them include: betta bubble, newts as well as young frogs. Killifish particularly epiplaty, guppy and gourami (sub adults) are other predators of springtail. Springtails are also a perfect food for young dart frogs and small herps.
