Writing a resignation letter is a key career tool. Even if you verbally hand in your notice, you must formalise it with a letter. In that letter of notice, explain your intention to resign along with a brief explanation of your reasons for leaving. State the date that you believe will be your official leaving date which can be calculated by looking at the notice period stated in your contract. Also state your willingness to work your full notice period and lastly, thank your boss for the opportunities that they presented to you or for the experience gained while working for the company.
