A Panopticon is a type of prison building that allows an observer to watch the prisoners without the prisoner being able to realize that he/she is being watched. It creates the feeling of invisible omniscience. This prison was first designed by in 1785 by English social theorist and philosopher Jeremy Bentham.

A panopticon is a type of building, which was designed in the late eighteenth century by social theorist and English philosopher Jeremy Bentham. The concept in the design of the building was to allow a spectator to observe inmates of an institution without the inmates being able to notice whether or not they are being watched.
