The ancient City of Troy (of ancient Greek empire) is located on the North Western region of modern Turkey. The city is currently known as Truva by the Turkish government. The city was discovered by archaeologist Heinrich Schliemann in 1870 by excavating a hill called Hisarlick in Anatolia. The site was named Troia.
