The main beneficiaries of the Crusades were European nations in terms of food products, household goods and new ideas, all brought back from the Middle East. The first Crusade resulted in the capture of Jerusalem in a bloody and destructive Christian victory. There were eight crusades in total with only the first and the sixth having any measure of success.
