Why Did the First World War Come to an End?

Answer

The First World War came to an end as a result of the surrender by Germany in 1945. The Germans had exhausted their manpower and supplies and were being faced with an imminent invasion by the Allied forces. The war left nine million soldiers dead and about 21 million wounded while about five million civilians died from disease and starvation.
