Why Do People Wear Black Armbands?

Answer

Black armbands used to be worn during mourning, but they are rare now. Modesty in dressing is a requirement for men and women. Women are to cover more than men, however. A Muslim woman is only to show her face, hands, and feet. Wearing black is not a requirement.
