Socrates was killed for opposing the standard views of the government. He was officially charged with corrupting the morals of the youth of Greece. He could have escaped, but chose not to.

Socrates was killed after his trial, by drinking a bowl of poison hemlock. That was provided to him this was seen as an honorable death. Rather than waiting for the mandated public execution, taking your own life was seen as accepting responsibility for your actions and crimes committed. The poison hemlock was supposedly provided to Socrates, with the help of one of his guards because the guard greatly respected.

No one. Well you could say that the Athens government did, because they sentenced him to death. But he did not want to be killed so he poisoned himself and died amongst friends.
